A Training Center for Arabic Church Planters and Missionaries
While in Cairo last week, Tim signed a Memorandum of Understanding with two Egyptian ministry partners. This step formalized our collaboration in establishing a training center for church planters and missionaries from Egypt and other countries in the region.
Significant progress on finishing the building has been made over the past few months and we are expecting it to be ready to host training events by early 2018. The location of the center is accessible while still having the security advantages associated with a privately owned property. The main auditorium in the building can seat close to 200, and there are 2 dormitory levels that can accommodate between 30 to 40 individuals for residential training intensives.
Our partners in Egypt have strong relational ties with multiple local denominations and movements. They are also connected to networks of fieldworkers in other countries in the region and both have personal experience working in other MENA nations.
The center is also potentially suitable for hosting short term immersion training intensives for missionary candidates from non-Arab backgrounds.
A Few Other Highlights from Tim’s Latest Trip:
(Building legitimate Business Access; Creating Pathways for Future Workers)
- Met with the senior VP of Maroc Telecom (the incumbent national “telco” in Morocco with substantial ownership in national telecommunication companies in 10 other countries). Genuine interest has been expressed in the products/companies Tim represents and the next steps are underway.
- Participated in a conversation with one of Morocco’s Provincial Governors regarding the government’s desire to see a top tier American University establish a campus in their region. Tim has been asked to partner in efforts to identify potential institutions and connect them with the Governor.
- Delivered a number of books and solar powered Bibles to two Moroccan pastors.
- Spoke to the staff of the South African Theological Seminary (largest online seminary) regarding making inroads into North Africa.
